Currently...

My first linky!! I am linking up with Oh' Boy 4th Grade for July's currently!

Listening - It is creepy quiet in my house right now! Johnathan just got off of work, so he is checking a few things on his computer while I update my bloggy!

Loving - SUMMER TIME! I absolutely love summer! Definitely not because of the heat, but I actually feel like a normal person! Summer time definitely gives me the time to rest and hang out with friends without having to think about work. (Of course, summer time also gives me a lot of time to reflect and plan for next school year!)

Thinking - Today was the first day of summer school for our kiddos. This is the first year that I am in charge of summer school and it's awesome. It gives me time to be out of the house (or else I'll go crazy) and I don't feel as lazy! Because of this opportunity, I will make enough in my next paycheck to pay off my car!! I'm definitely excited about not having a car payment!!

Wanting - I've been hanging out with a lot of my co-workers outside of school and all we keep thinking about is pinterest and the ideas we want to implement next year. This makes me so eager to get started on classroom shopping! Back to School time is my favorite time of the year! Discounted school supplies makes me so excited - it's such an addiction!

Needing - I think the last time I've heard, NC is either 47th or 48th in teacher pay!! We have been on a freeze for about 7 years. I am now entering my 6th year of teaching and I am still making the same amount of money as I did when I was a first year teacher. I know all of us are not in it for the money, but I also have to live and pay off bills! I've been watching the news and the Governor has been talking about possibly giving us a raise, as well as a minimum salary bump, but honestly, I'll believe it when I see it in my paycheck!

4th plans - Johnathan and I were thinking about going to the beach for the 4th of July weekend, but with the recent forecasts and tropical storm threat, I'm thinking we may play it safe and stay in for the weekend. We are such homebodies anyway and I am always working on something school related!

Thanks for reading! Until next time!!

  1. So interesting - my colleagues and I were just talking about how low the pay is in NC. I said I didn't understand because they have good schools. I love North Carolina. I'm just south of you in Atlanta. I hope the tropical storm stays at bay. Good luck!

    1. Thanks so much for commenting! Teacher pay in NC has definitely been a hot topic - not only here but surrounding states. Because our situation is so well known, other states are now trying to recruit teachers from NC and we are losing great quality teachers! It's a shame - I am hoping that our Governor and State can get it together! BTW, I am your newest follower! :-)

  2. I understand all about teacher pay. I'm married to a teacher, we have been on strike for almost the last 3 weeks of school. It's now summer, and it doesn't look like we'll be back at work until October. I live in the most expensive city in Canada, and we are 9th on the list of 10 provinces for teacher pay.
Great blog - I just found you through Farley's currently.

    1. Thanks for commenting! Oh wow! I hope things over there get better!! I know that we did not get into teaching for the money, but we should be shown some respect for what we do!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Yay your first linky, trust me it won't be your last! Wow can't believe that about your pay. I teach in Australia and my pay goes up twice every year. It's not much each time but least it's something.

    Cute blog - Alex
